Main Street Christmas Lights is committed to keeping this website usable by as many people as possible, including people who browse with screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or reduced motion settings.
The standard we build to
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That standard is published by the World Wide Web Consortium and is the benchmark referenced by most accessibility legislation, including guidance under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
We describe this as an aim rather than a certification. No automated tool proves conformance, and we would rather tell you what we actually do than claim a badge.
What we have done on this site
- Colour combinations are checked for contrast. Body text and interface text meet the AA contrast ratio against their backgrounds, and our gold accent colour is deliberately never used for text on light surfaces because it does not pass.
- Every page can be operated by keyboard alone, and a visible focus outline shows where you are. A skip link at the top of each page jumps straight to the main content.
- Headings follow a logical order, so screen reader users can navigate by structure rather than reading everything in sequence.
- Photographs carry descriptive alternative text explaining what is visible, rather than a filename or a keyword list. Decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Form fields have visible labels positioned above the field. We do not use placeholder text as the only label, because it disappears as soon as someone starts typing.
- The header video on our home page is muted, carries no information that is not also in the text, and does not play at all if your device is set to reduce motion. A still image is shown instead.
- Frequently asked questions use native expandable elements, so the answers are present in the page for assistive technology whether or not they are visually open.
- The site is built to work at a range of screen sizes and zoom levels without content being cut off or requiring horizontal scrolling.
- Our phone number is a real telephone link at every screen size, so it can be dialled directly rather than transcribed.
Known limitations
We are not aware of significant accessibility barriers on this site at present. If we become aware of one that cannot be fixed immediately, we will describe it here along with what we are doing about it and how to get the same information another way.

Where this site links to content we do not control, we cannot guarantee the accessibility of that content. If a link takes you somewhere unusable, tell us and we will look for an alternative.
Getting the same information another way
If any part of this website is difficult for you to use, you do not have to work around it. Call us on 817-809-3494 during business hours and we will answer your question, take your property details, or arrange a walkthrough over the phone. Nothing on this site is available only through the web form.
Telling us about a problem
We treat accessibility problems as defects, not suggestions. If you hit one, please tell us what page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what happened, along with the browser or assistive technology you were using if you know it. Call 817-809-3494 and we will take the details.
We aim to respond to accessibility reports within five business days, and to fix confirmed problems as quickly as the change allows.
Ongoing work
Accessibility is not a one-time task. We re-check contrast, keyboard operation and screen reader behaviour when we add or change pages, and we review this statement whenever the site changes materially.
